Life in the city is exhausting and this affects both our skin and our mood. We need to take extra care, but we often don’t know how exactly. With the Slow Âge series, Vichy experts help us take care of urban-stressed skin by reducing the influence of aggressors (UV, pollution, stress) and minimizing the damage already done – fine lines, gray complexion and sagging.
To their expertise on outer beauty, we add Nelly Naseva’s tips for achieving beauty from the inside. Nelly is a yoga teacher, co-founder of Yoga Vibe studios and a lawyer in an international company. How she combines all this, managing to keep a smile on her face and calmness in her eyes, she shares herself:
Hi Nelly, they say that yoga finds you, not the other way around. How did things go for you?
I tried to meet yoga many times through the years. I attended one class a year in different studios in Sofia in order to feel what yoga is, but I didn’t find any particular benefits from it… I was bored, I didn’t feel the load in a physical aspect, nor did I feel the spiritual meaning of the practice. Not that the teachers were bad, it just wasn’t for me.
Eight years ago I started a regular yoga practice – I was clearly ready. Again, just out of curiosity, I went to one class… It grabbed me so hard that I was flying all evening and the next day I was also in a full with energy. Yoga comes when you’re ready! I knew that from that moment I would not be able to part with it.
How big is Yoga Vibe right now?
We currently have four wonderful yoga studios from the chain – Yoga Vibe East – our first studio, Yoga Vibe South – the largest and most modern studio in Sofia, the small neat and cozy studios in the center Yoga Vibe Center and Yoga Vibe Gurko.
I will share something that I have not said anywhere before – in September we will open our fifth studio – Yoga Vibe Mladost in the wonderful Garitage Park. It will be one of our most spacious studios, where everything has been thought out to the smallest detail – the studio is equipped with the most modern technologies for airing and ventilation, rapid warm-up for special practices and rapid cooling between classes. The premises are finished with very high-quality materials and again the service we will provide to our customers will be at an exceptional level.
You also work as a corporate lawyer. Which of your “jobs” occupies a bigger place in your daily life?
Yoga is in my heart all the time. Even when I’m shopping or taking a shower I think about the classes and upcoming practices I have. On the business side, I think my legal work in the corporate world and my work as a manager at Yoga Vibe are about 50/50 right now.
The experience I gained in the corporate world is at the heart of our success with the studios. I have been in the business world since I was twenty, working for large corporations. For eight years I have been working for a big international company with large-scale investments in Bulgaria and Europe. The company is run by Israelis. They have taught me how to negotiate and do business and most importantly how to provide impeccable world class service.

A Zen wisdom says that we should meditate for twenty minutes a day, unless we are too busy – then we should meditate for an hour. Do you agree?
I started meditating when I was 21-22 years old. Long before I even knew what yoga was. The result of meditative practices was so strong that I sincerely believe that a large part of my professional development in those years was due to them.
And the quoted wisdom implies that if you are very busy, you will probably need much more time to be able to focus in meditation. The more experience you have, the easier and faster you enter a meditative state. The less you practice, the more hectic your mind is, the harder it is… It takes a lot of time and a lot of effort just for seconds of success.
